Want to get involved with the Uvic ESS?  Well you have a few options.

Be a Director at Large (DAL)

The first and simplest option is to signup to become a DAL.  DAL’s are volunteers that help out when and where they can.  That’s it!  Have a specific project or event you want to help with?  Just let us know!

Fill out this form and send it to the ess@uvic.ca email address or a council member you would like to work with.   UVicESS_FM_DALSignup

Run for an Elected Position

The ESS is a democratically elected society.  Have big ideas and want to help out in a specific role?  Think about running for a semesterely position at the next Semesterly General Meeting or for a council position next spring.  See this page for a quick list of positions and don’t hesitate to reach out to a current elected official for more information.

Become a Discipline Representative

The ESS has a student representative for every faculty to attend faculty meetings and give opinions and feedback.  They can also act as a mediator when students have troubles with or suggestions for specific classes.  Contact your Vice President Internal at essVPInternal@engr.uvic.ca for more information on how to become a Student Rep.

The ESS Lounge

Another, and probably most effective, way to get involved is to literally walk into the ESS Lounge (ELW206) and ask anyone if they need help!  If the lounge is open, there’s always an ESS official inside that has something they need help with.  Start a conversation, we’re happy to meet anyone who wants to help.
