Welcome to the Iron Ring Ritual information page.
The March 2012 Iron Ring ceremony will take place March 10th at 2pm in SCI B150 (Bob Wright Building).
You can register for the March ceremony if and only if you:
a) are an APEGBC qualified EIT or P.Eng or
b) have or are eligible to register for spring convocation.
Unlike the November ceremony, students participating in the March ceremony must be completing all their academic and co-op requirements by the end of April
Registration for the March Iron Ring ceremony has two parts: the ticket and the registration. You must have both. The ticket is how you pay for the ceremony, but you must send us information about your ring size, your guests, and your special presenter as well. The registration forms are listed below:
Iron Ring Recipient and Guest Registration
Iron Ring Recipient Registration only
For the first time ever at UVic, the March ceremony is 'open'. However this does NOT mean that you can bring whoever you want. Each ring recipient is restricted to a single guest. Additional guests are only allowed is space is available. You must register your guest via the 'iron ring with guest' registration form (here )
Additional guests will be allowed based on space constraints. We have a maximum number of people who will be able to observe the ceremony, and that number will be unknown until all iron ring recipients have registered. If you have indicated that you would like additional guests and space is available, you will be contacted and offered a ticket for an additional guest.
We cannot give someone a ring or mail a ring to anyone who has not already participated in the ceremony. This means, unfortunately, that if you are unable to attend the ceremony you must attend a ceremony at another date or another location. Some Iron Ring Camps will allow students not graduating from their programs to attend their ceremony with the appropriate proof of graduation. Others will not. You can contact other camps by finding their contact information here
You can find out your ring size from any jewelry shop. Choose the size that is snug on the pinky finger of your working hand. The Iron Ring Committee also has a ring sizer available in the ESS office
This depends on if you're going to bring a guest or not
If you will not bring a guest, the Iron Ring Ceremony costs $30 and includes your iron ring and the reception costs.
If you will bring a guest, the Iron Ring Ceremony costs $40 and includes your iron ring, the reception costs, and one guest. Additional guests are $10/each and are subject to space availability.
No. You must contact Camp 23 for your replacement ring.
You can have your ring presented to you by anyone who already has an iron ring! To request a special presenter, please fill out the special presenter registration section of the registration form
Iron Ring is business casual attire. Please no jeans and sneakers, and no tuxedos. A nice shirt and a skirt/black slacks is an excellent choice
