All undergraduate UVic students are encouraged to participate in a sequence of three competitions which test engineering skills on a local, regional, and national level.

UVEC
The precursor to WEC, the winners of this event get to move on to the real thing. UVEC is held in the summer and fall semesters and categories vary with demand. You can find more information about the Summer 2016 UVEC, including competition descriptions and the registration form, here: http://ess.uvic.ca/uvec

WEC
The Western Engineering Competition is Western Canada’s annual get together. UVic and other WESST schools send teams to compete in the events ranging from team competitions to debates and this leads to some serious fun. Teams for the design competition include a Junior team that is decided upon during Mini-WECC (figure it out) and senior made up of third and fourth year students. UVic always does really well at WECC and has brought home gold. Teams that place in the top two in each category get to move on to CEC which is held later in the year.

CEC
The Canadian Engineering Competition is the national competition where the best of the regional competitions get to face off, head to head. It is generally held near the end of March.
